Chinese President Xi Jinping and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham have signaled a desire for greater cooperation between Beijing and London despite continuing disagreements over security, human rights and the war in Ukraine.
Xi said China and Britain have more common interests than differences and highlighted potential cooperation in technology, education, healthcare and finance. Burnham also emphasized pragmatic cooperation aimed at supporting economic growth and living standards.
The conversation comes during a period of cautious improvement in China-UK relations, with both sides seeking stronger economic ties while attempting to manage major geopolitical disagreements.
