ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to accelerate efforts to bring Pakistani products in line with international standards as Islamabad seeks to expand exports.
During a review meeting on exports and economic growth, the prime minister called for administrative and business obstacles faced by exporters to be removed and for export procedures to become faster and more transparent.
The government is also examining ways to diversify export sectors, improve product quality and gain access to new international markets.
Why it matters: Improving export quality and market access could help Pakistan increase foreign-exchange earnings and strengthen its external economic position.
